Brixton Culture Capital 02.07.2026
Why culture is the most valuable thing we own?
People keep asking why we’re fighting so hard to buy back Brixton Village.
The answer has nothing to do with the buildings.
It’s the culture.
More than 100 languages spoken in a single market. Independent traders, restaurants, music and communities layered together over generations to create something no developer can manufacture.
That’s what people travel across London—and across the world—to experience. That’s what creates the rents, the footfall and the property values.
For decades, the community created that value while others captured the financial return.
Buying back Brixton Village is about changing that.
I wrote the full argument for why culture isn’t just something to preserve—it’s one of a city’s most valuable economic assets.
